Unattended Children

Approved 4/02/07

Parents are responsible for the behavior and whereabouts of their children. Parents are asked to accompany their children to the library, for the child’s safety as well as respect for the library and other patrons using the facility. Library staff cannot be expected to supervise or be responsible for unsupervised children in the library. An unattended child is defined as a child 7 years of age and under, who is not in immediate control of a parent or care giver. If a parent or caregiver cannot be located within five minutes, or at closing time of the library, the Sauk County Sheriffs Department will be called to handle the situation.
